Hurt people MUST Heal....

My time in Huntsville has finally come to an end. It’s been filled with lots of lessons and above all Patience. I’ve wanted to jump the gun on many occasions and leave but a block was placed each time until NOW. I couldn’t appreciate the blocks when they were there but now..... Whew! I’m better because I had to pick them up and learn the lesson while removing the sting of being here.

This morning as I’ve read through 4 years worth of blogs, I can honestly say I had to come thru Huntsville. In my early 30’s, I dated someone from here. I even intended to move here at some point. Who knew life ( GOD) already knew I’d come thru this place and it would NOT be with Mr. September!

As I reflected on life and my growth, I’m thankful for each person I’ve encountered. I’m thankful for the relationships that have truly lasted a lifetime and I’m even thankful for the ones that have been brief, for there was a lesson more than anything else.

I must say, while in HSV I’ve encountered a lot of hurt and broken people. Just recently, I was told of a conversation that was had about me. I’m sure it was meant to break me but it truly made me laugh and work harder towards my exit plan.

I believe we have to hear things in order to process how people truly feel about us. I’ve been called many things but to hear “ you ain’t shyt” was low....Whew that’s an all time low. And while I could’ve chose to blog about many things, I just want to end the year on this note.

It’s okay to seek HELP! There are so many people who are walking around bleeding out on others because they haven’t found ways to stop their own bleeding. In turn, they lash out hurtful and insensitive words because that’s all they know. They respond with hurt because they’ve been hurt.
They’re negative and even a bit selfish... if nothing else, I’ve learned now more than ever; we cannot carry the hurt and baggage of others. And if we continue to stay in that type of environment we’ll conform.

I like a good Challenge. So my lovies here goes,
I challenge each of you finish 2019 with dropping baggage that isn’t yours. Drop words curses, remove friendships/ relationships that are toxic, leave dead end jobs that will not produce growth and LOVE YOURself like only you can.

Life happens extremely fast. Do not let another 10 years pass and you’re  still in the same cycle. BREAK it! Only you can change what you do not like and only you can decide when enough is enough!

If you don’t know, you now do!

ChenekaT the Blogger is back!

I’ve laid low for a while to rebuild, refocus, rest and renew. Sometimes we have to be strong enough to admit we need a little help but we also have to know when we’ve gotten all we can and it’s time to STAND again!

It’s Wednesday and guys we’ve made it. You’re better than anything that’s trying to hurt you and tear you down! Believe it!!!

Take time to heal... and in healing it doesn’t always mean making old relationships new again. To heal  means to pull off the band aids and let fresh air hit the wound. If we keep covering it up, we’re not breathing thru it. We’re not acknowledging it. We’re aware but we haven’t tackled it.

Fight thru for your happiness and work even harder to heal your hurt. You’re no good to anyone if you’re 1st no good to yourself!

Thanks everyone who has been on this 2 year journey with me while in HSV. It’s time for me to get back to living!!

Sincerely,
The Blogging Queen,

New Old Friend, New Dates..

I absolutely love this movie theatre. The 1st time I came here was with then boyfriend and one of his friends many moons ago. Lastnight, I returned with the same guy. Not as my boyfriend but as new friends again. The good thing about "new friendships", we're at liberty to decide if we'll entertain it or not. The fact that I enjoy his friendship and company more than anything made the decision to be friends again easy.

When I first started visiting Huntsville, Alabama I could not see the beauty in it. I was this Northern bred girl who was slowly transforming into a Georgia Peach. And while it was never a thought to move here, my parents retired here, so I have to come over occasionally. Almost 7years later, I appreciated "date night" through the eyes of a mature(er) woman.

Although we were running a few minutes late, we were still able to thoroughly enjoy Creed. Lots of hidden nuggets and self motivation in the movie.

Afterwards, we walked throughout Bridge Street. I even entertained "Black Friday"and swiped my debitcard lol( tried to get him to swipe his but the store was closed.. Lol). Such a beautiful place and not because of the many stores either. It's definitely a place to come and just enjoy your date. As we walked, memories of dates he and I shared crossed my mind. While it's easy to get stuck in the past and reminisce, I chose to enjoy the new moments.

My Lovies, it's not always easy to entertain people who once were. But when it's genuine, it doesn't hurt to give it a try. Learn to let old experiences stay where they are and walk through each new door with no reservations or high expectations. Who knows, you too may experience old friends becoming new again.

Cheers to dates, they're always good and much needed!

Forward...

" what's a head is way better than what's behind..." CTH™

This weekend was filled with many emotions. Last year while chaperoning my daughter's Student Council trip( this year she's Student Council President), we purchased National Parks Stamp books. There's a list of every National Park, Monument, Civil War, Trail of Tears etc..., location throughout the U.S. We've been to quite a few locations to date. Our American passport!

With all of the hype and history tied to the movie Selma, I felt it would only be right that we make history by crossing the bridge and I share a few teachable moments with my 2.

As we neared Selma, i could feel my heart racing. I've experienced so much about black history while living in The South. Some moments have hurt and some were definitely Ah ha's, but nothing could compare to what I was feeling as we drove to the bridge.

In my mind, I was envisioning Dr.King and the countless men and women who stood together to cross the bridge in solidarity. As I drove, I glanced at my surroundings. Tears began to fill my eyes and fall. These people cared enough for my future that instead of guns, the walked. They were hit and yet they walked. They were spit at and yet they walked. Sprayed with water hoses, attacked by dogs, arrested but yet they WALKED...

Forward...

I pulled over to park and I just stood there. I took it all in. The moment was so surreal. I stood with my children and together we were thankful for the movement. While my son is 3( and was dressed as Green Lantern) he really didn't grasp what we were doing but my daughter just stood there as well. She kept saying, "Mommy this is so real, this really happened". Yes. We had hoped to visit the Voting Rights Museum but it was closed as was the National Parks Indirective where we would receive our stamps and the kids become Jr. Park Rangers.  The amount of history in that little city was so unbelievable.

As we crossed the bridge, there was this sign( if you came to my blog via my IG, you know what I'm talking about) that hit me like a ton of bricks. My daughter read it and it sparked a conversation I was not ready for. It made reference to the KKK losing the battle. My daughter asked, "Mommy why did they hate black people so much"? I though of all the elaborate words I could use but instead I chose to explain this way," sometimes, we dislike things and people when we don't like ourselves. We do mean things because it's how we were raised". Her response, "well I like all people". I stood there and hugged my children. I'm not perfect, I make tons of mistakes. But my charge, as their mom is to help them understand HISTORY, our History to be specific.

We've come a long way and we still have a ways to go. But what's ahead is better than what's been. I will continue to push Forward..

Today my lovies, I challenge you to make history in the lives of the little ones connected to you. What they learn in school is a start, it's our job to take charge and teach because some things they will never learn in a history book. I Am My Beautiful Black and not just during Black History Month..
